Delete the contacts folder of Windows Live.
1. Change the system settings in Microsoft Windows Explorer. To do this, use one of the following methods: • Windows XP
a. With your mouse, right-click the Start button and click Explore to open Windows Explorer.
b. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
c. On the View tab, under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files and folders under Hidden files and folders.
d. Clear the check box Hide extensions for known file types.
e. Click OK to close the Folder Options window.
• For Windows Vista
a. With your mouse, right-click the Start button and click Explore to open Windows Explorer.
b. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
c. On the View tab in the Advanced Settings list, select Show hidden files and folders under Hidden files and folders.
d. Clear the check box Hide extensions for known file types.
e. Click OK to close the Folder Options window.
2. Delete Windows Live Contacts folder:
2. a. Click Start, and then double-click My Computer
2. b. Browse to the location
• Windows XP C: \\ Documents and Settings \\ \\ Local Settings \\ Application Data \\ Microsoft
• For Windows Vista
C: \\ Users \\ login
2 . c. Remove the Windows Live Contacts folder in full.
2. d. Re-launch Windows Live Messenger and try signing in again. Check if the problem remains.
